Welcome Prospective seller!
We here at the ASCIT Bookmart believe that the system is very simple to use and essentially self-explanatory.
But then again, we designed it. So for all of you who may be uncertain, the entire process, start to finish,
is outlined below.
- Step 1: Get an account
If you don't already have a user account with this website, get one. The ability to post used books
is restricted to those users with accounts. Getting an account is quick, easy, and painless. Click
here to get one.
- Step 2: Post the book
Posting your book allows other users to find it. To begin your post go to 'Services->Bookmart->Sell
a book,' search for your book with the book search and click 'Sell a copy of this book,' or just click
here. Here you will be prompted for the following
things:
The ISBN (International Standard Book Number) of your book uniquely identifies it, providing us with
more detailed information (title, author, edition, etc.) about the book. The ISBN can often be
found on the back cover near the bar code or inside near the copyright information. The price field
is where you enter the price you wish to charge for this book. Finally, the description is for any
special information you may wish to include. Once you submit this information, you will be asked to
confirm your post. Here in addition to displaying your book's information (to confirm that you
entered the ISBN correctly), you will be shown the range of prices for which others are selling
the same book. At this point, you may choose to go back and change your offer for the sake of
competitive pricing. Once you confirm your post it is entered in the database for all to see.
- Step 3: Enter the book information
The vast majority of sellers will skip this step. If, for some reason, the ISBN you entered does
not correspond to a book in our database, you will be asked to manually enter the data: title,
author, edition number, and copyright date. This data, when submitted, will be entered in our
database and will never need be entered by anyone else selling this book. The confirmation for
this process will naturally look a bit different than the confirmation mentioned in Step 2. However,
it is essentially the same.
- Step 4: Wait
This one's easy.
- Step 5: Make the sale
If someone sees your book and wants it, they will e-mail you at the address you specified when you
created your account with us. Now it is your responsibility to work out with the buyer the specifics
of the transaction (meeting place, time, etc.). That's all you.
- Step 6: Delete the post
There's one more. Once the book is sold, it is still listed in our database. So be sure to remove it.
To do this, go to the View My Books page. Find the book
you sold and click delete.
NOTE: Posts are removed after 10 weeks if they are not refreshed by
their owner, regardless of whether or not the book has been sold. To forestall this process for
another 8 weeks, visit the View My Books
Page.
