FormalEach year, the ESC organizes a formal evening of dinner and dance at a luxury location. The event is usually held during the Memorial Day weekend at the end of May. Tickets are reasonably-priced and include complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. Previous formals have included a live swing band, DJ, and a professional photographer. The 2006 formal was held at the Portofino Hotel at Redondo Beach, preceded by a beach party. The 2007 formal was held at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington in Pasadena with a complimentary limo service between the hotel and campus. |
Housing MovieEach year, thanks to the generosity of the Housing Office, the cinema at Pacific Theatres is booked for the opening night of a Hollywood blockbuster. Tickets are free for all Caltech undergrads and available at a highly-discounted price for the rest of the Caltech community. The 2006 movie was The DaVinci Code and the 2007 movie was Spiderman 3. |
InterhovseIn January 2007, the traditional Interhovse party was revived at Caltech. This consists of the eight houses joining up together and hosting four simultaneous parties on the same evening. December 2007 will witness the eight houses coming together again to construct a visibly spectacular and highly enjoyable party. |
Live ConcertOccasionally, a live concert is brought to the Caltech campus. In 2005, Jimmy Eat World performed live at Caltech. The concert was free for the Caltech community. A concert is currently being planned for January 2008. |
